Make perfectly crispy chicken wings in your air fryer for game day or any occasion. This recipe includes tips for dry rubs, sauces, and cooking from frozen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. This is crucial for crispy skin.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  4. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. If adding sauce, toss the cooked wings in your favorite sauce (like buffalo or BBQ) immediately after removing them from the air fryer.

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, you can add 1 teaspoon of baking powder to the dry rub.
  • If cooking from frozen, add an additional 5-10 minutes to the cooking time.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces and blue cheese or ranch dressing.
