Ingredients
Scale
2 large Russet potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
Wash and cut the potatoes into uniform 1/4-inch thick sticks. Do not peel them.
Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl and cover them completely with cold water. Soak for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, to remove excess starch.
Drain the potatoes completely and rinse them under cold water until the water runs clear.
Dry the potatoes thoroughly using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. This step is crucial for crispiness.
In the bowl, toss the dried potatoes with the olive oil until lightly coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Do not overcrowd the basket.
Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to promote even cooking.
When the fries are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the air fryer.
Immediately toss the hot fries with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Serve right away.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can rinse the cut potatoes twice or soak them for up to 4 hours.
If you use frozen fries, cook them at 380°F (195°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
For restaurant style fries, use a high-CPC phrase like ‘extra crispy air fryer french fries’ when seasoning.
