Ingredients
Scale
4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Pat the pork chops completely dry using paper towels. This step is key for a crispy exterior.
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, thyme, and black pepper to create the spice rub.
Brush both sides of each pork chop lightly with the olive oil.
Generously coat both sides of the oiled pork chops with the spice rub, pressing the seasoning into the meat.
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C) for 5 minutes.
Place the seasoned pork chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; work in batches if necessary.
Air fry bone-in chops for 12 to 15 minutes, or boneless chops for 10 to 13 minutes. Flip the chops halfway through the cooking time.
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Remove the pork chops when they reach 140°F (60°C) for bone-in or 145°F (63°C) for boneless.
Let the pork chops rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before serving. Resting allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat tender.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the seasoned chops with cooking spray just before placing them in the air fryer.
If using thicker chops (over 1.5 inches), you may need to increase the cooking time by a few minutes. Always check the internal temperature for safety and tenderness.
This simple rub works well for both bone-in pork chops and boneless pork chops.
