Crispy and flavorful dumplings made with rice paper wrappers and a simple tofu and vegetable filling, cooked to perfection in your air fryer. A perfect healthy appetizer for game day or any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and crumbled
  • 1 cup finely chopped mixed vegetables (e.g., carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, bell peppers)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 810 sheets rice paper wrappers
  • 12 tbsp neutral oil (like avocado or canola)
  • Dipping sauce ingredients (e.g., soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, honey/maple syrup)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine crumbled tofu, chopped vegetables, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.
  2. Prepare your dipping sauce by whisking together your desired ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
  3. Fill a shallow dish with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper in the water for about 15-20 seconds, until pliable but not overly soft.
  4. Carefully lay the softened wrapper flat on a clean, damp surface.
  5. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the tofu-vegetable filling near the bottom edge of the wrapper.
  6. Fold the bottom edge of the wrapper over the filling. Fold in the sides, then tightly roll the dumpling upwards to form a sealed package. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  7. Lightly brush the assembled dumplings with neutral oil.
  8. Arrange the dumplings in a single layer in your air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch. You may need to cook in batches.
  9. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Serve immediately with your prepared dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, ensure you use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • You can customize the vegetable filling with your favorite ingredients.
  • Make sure not to over-soak the rice paper, as it will become too fragile.
  • Adjust air frying time based on your air fryer model.
