Ingredients
Scale
2 cups pecan halves
1 large egg white
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white and water together until slightly frothy.
Add the pecans to the egg white mixture and toss until they are evenly coated.
In a separate small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the coated pecans. Toss gently until all the nuts are covered with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even coating.
Remove from the oven when the coating looks dry and the pecans are fragrant.
Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crunchy as they cool.
Store cooled pecans in an airtight container.
Notes
For a slightly saltier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of coarse salt to the sugar mixture.
You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds if desired.
These pecans make excellent edible gifts when packaged in small jars or cellophane bags.
