Make restaurant-quality creamy horseradish sauce quickly. This zesty, tangy condiment pairs perfectly with prime rib, roast beef, and steak for your next dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish, drained
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and mayonnaise. Mix until smooth.
  2. Stir in the drained prepared horseradish, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well to incorporate all ingredients.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice and stir one final time.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. You can add more horseradish for extra heat.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a bolder flavor, use freshly grated horseradish instead of prepared.
  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add one teaspoon of milk or heavy cream at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  • This homemade horseradish sauce is best served cold alongside roast beef or prime rib.
