Make this simple baked crispy cheddar chicken for a family favorite dinner. The coating stays crunchy while the chicken stays juicy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup crushed buttery round crackers (like Ritz)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the crushed crackers, shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. In a separate small bowl, melt the butter.
  4. Dredge each chicken breast lightly in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  5. Dip each floured chicken breast into the melted butter, coating both sides.
  6. Press the buttered chicken firmly into the cracker and cheese mixture until both sides are completely coated.
  7. Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the topping is golden brown and crisp.
  9. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the top of the coated chicken with cooking spray before baking.
  • Use room temperature chicken breasts for more even cooking.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed green beans or mashed potatoes.
