A nostalgic 1980s Midwest potluck favorite featuring seasoned ground beef, crunchy Nacho Cheese Doritos, and a tangy dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 bag Nacho Cheese Doritos, crushed
  • 1 cup Catalina dressing

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and cook according to packet directions. Let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, and black olives.
  4. Add the cooled taco meat to the salad.
  5. Just before serving, add the crushed Doritos and toss with the Catalina dressing.

Notes

  • For make-ahead, layer ingredients in the following order: lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, olives, taco meat. Keep dressing and Doritos separate until ready to serve to prevent sogginess.
  • Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
