Make satisfying, cheesy egg toast quickly using your air fryer. This recipe delivers crispy edges and a gooey center, perfect for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices bread (sourdough or thick-cut recommended)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter, melted
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C). Lightly brush the tops of the bread slices with melted butter.
  2. Using a spoon or small glass, gently press a well or indentation into the center of each bread slice, making sure not to press all the way through the bottom crust.
  3. Crack one egg into the well of each slice of bread. Season the eggs with salt and pepper.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the eggs and around the edges of the bread.
  5. Carefully place the prepared bread slices into the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch.
  6. Air fry for 6 to 9 minutes, depending on your desired egg doneness and bread crispiness. Check at 6 minutes; the whites should be set and the cheese melted.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately for a fast morning breakfast idea.

Notes

  • For a fluffier egg, lightly whisk the egg before pouring it into the bread well.
  • If you do not have an air fryer, you can bake this at 375°F (190°C) on a baking sheet for 10-12 minutes.
  • Add a dash of garlic powder with the pepper for extra savory flavor.
