Make this quick, creamy peanut sauce in under five minutes using simple pantry ingredients. It works well as a dip for spring rolls, a dressing for salads, or a sauce for noodles and stir-fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup warm water (or more, for thinning)
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Combine the peanut butter, warm water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  3. If the sauce is too thick for your needs, add more warm water, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency for dipping or drizzling.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed; add more sweetener for sweetness or vinegar for tang.
  5. Use immediately, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free sauce, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of sriracha or chili garlic sauce for a spicy kick.
  • This sauce is excellent over rice noodles or as a marinade for tofu or chicken skewers.
