Create a rich, authentic pizza sauce in minutes using only pantry staples. This simple, no-cook recipe delivers deep tomato flavor perfect for any pizza crust, making your next pizza night special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes (San Marzano preferred)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced very fine or grated
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Pour the entire can of tomatoes, including the juice, into a medium bowl.
  2. Use your hands or a potato masher to crush the whole tomatoes until you reach your desired consistency. For a smoother sauce, you can pulse briefly in a food processor, but do not over-process.
  3. Add the minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, pepper, and olive oil to the crushed tomatoes.
  4. Stir all ingredients together until they are fully combined.
  5. Taste the sauce and adjust salt or herbs as needed.
  6. Use the pizza sauce immediately on your dough for the best fresh flavor, or cover and refrigerate for up to one week.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, drain some of the excess liquid from the canned tomatoes before crushing them.
  • If you prefer a slightly sweeter sauce, add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.
  • This no-cook pizza sauce works perfectly for thin crust, New York style, or Neapolitan pizzas.
