Ingredients
Scale
2 cups long grain white rice
4 cups water or chicken broth
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Cook the rice according to package directions using water or chicken broth. If using broth, this adds flavor.
While the rice cooks, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat.
Add the minced fresh garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the butter mixture.
Once the rice is cooked and fluffy, transfer it to a large bowl.
Pour the garlic butter mixture over the hot rice.
Gently toss the rice until the butter and seasonings are evenly distributed. Serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, substitute half the butter with brown butter. Melt the butter slowly until the milk solids toast and turn brown before adding the garlic.
Use chicken broth instead of water when cooking the rice for a deeper savory base.
This recipe pairs well with steak, roasted chicken, or simple steamed vegetables.
