Create these adorable, bite-sized Grinch Oreo Balls for your next holiday gathering. This simple, no-bake recipe uses crushed Oreos and cream cheese, coated in festive green candy melts and topped with a tiny red heart. They are perfect for Christmas party food ideas and cookie trays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 12 ounces green candy melts
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning)
  • Red heart-shaped sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Place the Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until you have fine crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, place cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Transfer the cookie crumbs to a medium bowl. Add the softened cream cheese. Mix with a spatula or clean hands until the mixture is completely combined and forms a thick dough.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get approximately 24 to 28 balls. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Chill the Oreo balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This step helps them firm up before dipping.
  5. Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl according to package directions, stirring every 30 seconds. If the coating is too thick, stir in the coconut oil or shortening to reach a smooth, dipping consistency.
  6. Working with one ball at a time, drop it into the melted green coating. Use a fork or dipping tool to roll it completely in the coating. Lift the ball out, letting excess coating drip back into the bowl.
  7. Place the coated ball back onto the parchment-lined sheet. Immediately press one red heart sprinkle onto the top center of the ball to create the Grinch’s heart.
  8. Allow the Grinch Oreo Balls to set completely at room temperature, or speed up the process by chilling them for another 15 minutes.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use regular Oreos, not the Double Stuf variety.
  • If you are making these for a large party, you can store the finished, set balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • If you want a deeper green color, add one drop of green food coloring to the melted candy melts before dipping.
