Make this rich, layered Mississippi Mud Pie featuring a cookie crust, fudgy chocolate base, creamy pudding, and whipped topping. This is the ultimate chocolate lover’s dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Crush the chocolate sandwich cookies finely in a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and crushing with a rolling pin. You need about 1 1/2 cups of crumbs.
  2. Mix the cookie crumbs with the melted butter until fully combined. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Chill the crust for 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare the chocolate pudding according to package directions using 1 cup of cold milk. Let it set for 5 minutes, then spread half of the pudding mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in half of the thawed whipped topping until just combined. Spread this cream cheese mixture over the pudding layer.
  5. Top the cream cheese layer with the remaining chocolate pudding.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the chocolate chips and heavy cream over low heat, stirring until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth, creating a ganache. Let it cool slightly.
  7. Pour the chocolate ganache over the pudding layer.
  8. Spread the remaining half of the whipped topping over the ganache layer.
  9. Chill the pie for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer crust, use 8 tablespoons of butter instead of 6.
  • You can substitute the instant pudding with homemade chocolate mousse for an extra decadent texture.
  • Garnish the top with chocolate shavings or crushed cookies before serving.
