Make the ultimate Pumpkin Spice Latte at home. This recipe delivers the rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced flavor of your favorite coffeehouse drink using real pumpkin puree.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy for your preference)
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream and extra spice for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, for about 1 minute until it is warm and fragrant. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the milk into the saucepan. Continue heating until the milk is hot and steaming, whisking gently to combine the pumpkin mixture thoroughly.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. If you prefer a very smooth texture, strain the milk mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup to remove any pumpkin solids.
  5. Pour the hot espresso or strong coffee into your mug.
  6. Slowly pour the hot, spiced pumpkin milk mixture over the coffee.
  7. Top your homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte with whipped cream and a sprinkle of extra pumpkin pie spice, if desired.

Notes

  • For an Iced PSL, skip heating the milk. Whisk the pumpkin sauce ingredients together, then combine with cold milk and espresso. Pour over ice.
  • If you want a thicker sauce base, reduce the milk slightly and use it as a DIY pumpkin spice sauce concentrate.
  • Use freshly brewed espresso for the best coffeehouse style flavor.
