Ingredients
Scale
1 cup water
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 large eggs
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
For Serving: Marinara sauce, Queso dip, Ranch dressing
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until butter is melted.
Remove the saucepan from heat. Add the flour all at once and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
Return the saucepan to low heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute to dry out the dough.
Transfer the dough to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated. The dough should be smooth and glossy.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, chopped chives, and chopped parsley until just combined.
Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between them.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the churros are golden brown and puffed.
Let the churros cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces like marinara, queso, or ranch.
Notes
For extra crispiness, you can bake the churros for an additional 5 minutes.
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses and herbs.
