Ingredients
Scale
4 cups Whole Milk
8 ounces good quality White Chocolate, finely chopped
2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste)
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
Instructions
Pour the milk into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat until small bubbles form around the edges; do not let it boil.
Reduce the heat to low. Add the chopped white chocolate to the warm milk. Whisk constantly until the white chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue to heat gently for 2 to 3 minutes, whisking occasionally, until the drink is hot throughout and slightly thickened. Do not boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
Pour the white hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream or marshmallows before serving immediately.
Notes
For a Starbucks copycat version, add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per serving for extra richness.
To make an adult version, stir in 1 ounce of white rum or vanilla vodka per mug after removing from heat.
If you want a thicker drink, use half-and-half instead of whole milk, or simmer for a few extra minutes to reduce slightly.
